I have been a potter for 36 years working in many areas of ceramics from designing tableware to my present work in Maiolica. I have always drawn and painted, and it forms a central role in my ceramic practice. The imagery on my vases is not a random choice but an investigation into the qualities of plants, their texture, colour, and shape. This way I hope to bring a new perspective and freshness to a somewhat familiar subject, floral imagery fit for the 21st Century.

My inspirations come from post war textile design and illustration, and the landscape painting of such artists as Eric Ravillious and John Piper. I take my ceramic heritage from the works of potters such as Kenneth Newland, Nicholas Vergette and James Tower.
